Rest In
Peace, Harry
[Introduction by Miles Stair. Hal Walter is
the dean of American survivalists. While
others were talking preparations, Hal was making
preparations a half-century ago! Even in 2008 he was
still active in shelter work and design, still
innovating and incorporating the latest EMP shielding
for his generators and other electrical items, for
example. Hal is a veteran of the 10th Mountain
Division of World War II fame. I was a practical,
practicing, prepared survivalist in the early 70's,
and Hal Walter predates me by almost twenty
years!] Now read Hal Walter.
My own personal
and family survival history began suddenly one day in
May of 1955...10 years into the Atomic Age....when the
news came of the tremendous power that had been
released in a series of tests in the Pacific in the
form of what they called the H-Bomb. At the same time
came the critical information about the Russian H-Bomb
and missile capabilities which were a direct threat to
the United States. For me, this changed the somewhat
theoretical dangers posed by the Hiroshima-type 20
kiloton weaponry into a frightening threat of total
annihilation.
Without examining
the many changes in our lives over the intervening 52
years in unnecessary detail there are several factors
of importance that should be stressed in evaluating our
survival program. Perhaps the major one being
DEDICATION. Survival in the nuclear age is not an
on-again, off-again scenario dependent on the whims of
the moment, distractions involving a lessening of
resolve, demands upon a limited money supply, or any
number of rationalizations relating to your desire to
stop facing reality.
FACT.....THE
THREAT TO YOUR FAMILY FROM NUCLEAR DANGER WILL NOT GO
AWAY!
My basic list of
categories that need to be addressed in order to build
a sound survival program numbers approximately 25. A
few of the most important listed previously in this
same series under the title of PREPAREDNESS EVALUATION
are thoroughly covered in EndTimesReport by various
authors...including my own series entitled SURVIVAL
DEFENSE SAVVY....parts 1 thru 5 (links
below).
A major deterrent
for most survival-oriented families is ECONOMICS....or
in plain words.... "We just cannot afford a survival
program". Our own experience over the past 52
years....especially the last 37 years in our present
location in an isolated location in the Rocky Mountains
of Colorado has proven just the opposite....YOU CANNOT
AFFORD TO NOT HAVE A LONG-TERM SURVIVAL PROGRAM IN
EFFECT! If we were to replicate our present investment
in property, food, water systems, and all of the other
necessary survival preparations, it would cost a
minimum of 5 to 6 times as much as we have currently
invested. Many people have money invested in what,
essentially, will be worthless pieces of paper The
Morning After.
If you are
sincerely concerned about the future of your family and
wish to consult personally with me I would suggest
contacting Miles Stair [miles@milesstair.com]. If he
feels that a direct email contact would be in the
interest of both parties he will contact me.
